I'm a bit surprised that this clip is being used as a tutorial as I feel that it represents a conscious sedation failure. The patient exhibited no signs of disassociation that is expected with ketamine nor was he adequately sedated. To answer the patient's question, "do I need a lawyer?", yes, you may. Also, what is up with the amount of blood loss from a simple I&D?

While this is clinical useful, I feel as thought the manner in which is was filmed somewhat trivialised the procedure and the patient to some degree

Terrible. You should not show this. This is not a medical intervention. It looks like a terrorism. It is a bad example of practice. Please remove this video from the net.

Don't know what is up with comments 2-4 being negative but looked pretty textbook to me.

Question: Do you find that usually patients do become as hypertensive as this one (~150 sys.) and do you find fentanyl a better substitute for HTN-risk patients.

"Good God what a horrible experience for the patient! He is neither anaesthetised, nor sedated + no analgesia used!"

He was both. Good work Docs.

Since when does ketofol cause grimacing? Im almost %100 assured the pain stimulus from I&D without analgesia was the cause for grimacing without concious ability to stop the procedure and say "hey what the !@#$ that hurts!!!"

I think the people who wrote above are confused about the words anesthesia and sedation.
  • ARAMD  - Ouch !
If I was the patient, I would have asked for some fentanyl.

I would have loved to see more of that abscess being drained
